LOWLIFE - Swirl, It Swings (1987)

At their prime - around the time of this 1987 EP - Lowlife should have been huge, with a rich and textured sound that recalled all the best bits in every post-punk band that really ever mattered. The cruel truth is that nobody was paying that much attention, and recording for a small label like Nightshift didn't help either. Nevertheless they were always one of my fave late 80s bands. So here it is, the awsome Swirl, It Swings 12-inch in all its glory.

Side A1: Swing

Side A2: Colours Blue

Side B1: Ramified

Side B2: Eternity Road

BUZZCOCKS - Ever Fallen In Love (1978)

A great romantic punk song that - for reasons tht might be obvious to some of you - just had to be my first post in this new blog. Most people will no doubt be more familiar with the cover version that the Fine Young Cannibals did in the mid-eighties. Anyway, this original by the mighty Buzzcocks was the real deal (and the b-side was pretty good too).

Released by the Virgin label in September 1978, the 7-inch single featured the classic line up of Pete Shelley's band, minus Howard Devoto who had by that time already left to front Magazine.

Side A: Ever Fallen In Love (with someone you shouln't've)

Side B: Just Lust
